Los Angeles County Public Works is one of the largest municipal public works agencies in the United States, providing vital 21st Century infrastructure and essential services to more than 10 million people across a 4,000-square-mile regional service area.

Its annual budget of over $4.4 billion is funded by restricted revenues, such as gas tax, benefit assessment, water and sewer sales, user fees, and other revenues. The agency also manages sustainable water, transportation, and waste management infrastructure, including over 130 active capital projects with a construction value of over $3.3 billion. Public Works is strategically focused on advancing economic development through innovative strategies and business-friendly contracting opportunities to serve the County’s small business and local worker hiring objectives.

In Fiscal Year 2020-21, Public Works awarded over $1 billion worth of contracts, which helped create 12,394 jobs. The agency’s diverse workforce is comprised of approximately 4,000 employees in nearly 500 job classifications, including professional, technical, clerical, and skilled crafts.

Headquartered at 900 South Fremont Avenue in Alhambra, Public Works has 77 field facilities throughout LA County.

The scope of work of this project includes upgrades to the major mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and other appurtenances of the pump station. The mechanical scope involves replacement of main pumps, motors, and pipes. The electrical scope involves replacement of motor control center, pump station lighting system, as well as other electrical components. The structural scope involves modification of existing sump pump floor openings, replacement of existing catwalk in sump pump and installation of new catwalk around all five pumps in the sump area.
