The project consists of the remediation of the site by excavation and offsite disposal of contaminated soil and wetland sediments in and around several former dump and burn areas. Levels of lead in some of the remediation areas exceed the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) limit of 5 milligrams per liter (mg/L) and require in -situ treatment prior to excavation and offsite disposal. Debris, including glass bottles, refuse, and/or miscellaneous electrical components, is present in some removal areas. Some corroded drums containing miscellaneous electrical components or other solid debris may also be present, requiring removal. Miscellaneous surface debris (tires, metal debris, etc.) may also require removal and offsite disposal. The estimated project cost is $3,200,000 The work is to be accomplished within 200 calendar days of notice to proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $500.00 per day will be assessed if the work has not been completed in accordance with the provisions of the contract within the time specified (as extended by any authorized extension of time granted in accordance with the contract provisions). Damon Pond Dam Repairs and Area Improvements Willard Brook State Forest, Ashby, Ma The project consists of work to bring Damon Pond Dam into compliance with the Massachusetts Dam Safety Regulations (302 CMR 10.00) and making state park site improvements. Proposed work includes concrete and masonry repairs to the dam, spillway, and training walls, removal of unsuitable vegetation on and within 20 feet of the dam, site drainage improvements, overtopping protection to the dam embankment and structural repairs to the bridge deck and railings. The project also includes construction of recreational features including two ADA- compliant parking spaces and an ADA/MAAB-compliant stabilized aggregate path from Hosmer Road to the boundary of the southern beach.
