1.1 Scope: The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service is receiving bids until August 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM local time, for construction services for the Traffic Signal Battery Backup Ph 2/2026 Traffic Flow Monitors project. Bids are to be submitted only at www.bidexpress.com. Hard copies shall not be accepted.
This project involves adding Traffic Signal Battery Backup (uninterruptible battery supply) cabinets at 20 various locations throughout Columbus. Which involves adding the cabinets, power supply, cabinet foundations, conduit, and interconnect equipment.
Additionally, the project is to add and relocate Traffic Flow Monitors at 20 various locations. This involves adding monitors, cable, equipment, and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, as set forth in this Invitation For Bid (IFB).
All questions concerning this project are to be sent to capitalprojects@columbus.gov. The last day to submit questions will be specified in the IFB; phone calls will not be accepted. Responses will be posted on Bid Express at www.bidexpress.com as an addendum.
A pre-bid meeting will not be held.
Notice of published addenda will be posted on the City’s Vendor Services web site and all addenda will be posted on www.bidexpress.com.
1.2 Classification: All bid documents (Invitation for Bid, technical specifications, plans, and future addenda) will be available for review and download on Bid Express at www.bidexpress.com after the IFB is published. Firms must meet the mandatory requirements stated in the IFB for a bid to be considered for contract award.

The project shall consist of the removal of trip hazards resulting from a difference in the elevation of abutting sidewalk panels within the corporation limits of the City of Columbus. The method of repair for this contract will be by saw cutting the panel horizontally to eliminate vertical difference and result in a smooth uniform surface. Grinding, leveling, or other similar repair methods are not allowable for the purpose of this contract. Collection and removal of resulting debris is included as part of the repair and incidental to that work. Any resulting crack or void of ½” or greater is to be filled with an approved material and considered a separate item for payment.
