The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the state's roads, bridges and tunnels, and has the third-largest state-maintained highway system in the country, behind Texas and North Carolina.  

VDOT procures professional services contracts for transportation projects through competitive negotiation, a selection method defined in the Virginia Public Procurement Act (VPPA) §2.2-4300, and in accordance with the Department’s most current professional services procurement manual.

Route 460/West Ruritan Road Intersection Improvements. Route 460 & Alternate 220 Intersection Improvements. The proposed improvements include the design of Thru-cut, R-cut, and Displaced Left Turn intersections, channelized median openings, offsetting, and extending turn lanes, pedestrian/ADA accommodations and signal replacements. The design will be required to meet all SWM and water quality regulations. While nutrient credits may be utilized on the project, it is likely that a water quality BMP will be needed.
