This project will replace the existing 85kW indoor open-frame natural gas generator in VMRI 40 with a similarly sized outdoor natural gas generator with weather and sound-insulated housing. The scope of work includes installing a concrete pad, removing and replacing the generator, and reconfiguring all related electrical connections to meet current codes. The project includes, but is not limited to, replacement with a new roof designed that has a minimum useful life expectancy of 30 years. Roof insulation will be increased to current energy codes, and the appropriate roof safety systems and equipment will be installed to current University standards. All masonry walls and features above this roofline that tie directly into this system will be repaired, tuck-pointed, or caulked to prevent water infiltration through these critical interfaces.
